Delicious Low Carb Cereal Recipe
I love a good bowl of cereal in the morning. It is one of the easiest breakfast options there is! Of course, finding a great low carb cereal can be tough. Many store-bought options just don’t satisfy my craving for a hearty, delicious bowl of cereal to start my morning off right. Luckily, this maple keto cereal recipe is here to save the day! Packed with maple flavor, totally low carb and super healthy- this recipe has it all!
One of the primary ingredients in this cereal recipe is unsweetened coconut flakes. This is an ingredient that you will find a lot in keto cooking since it is slightly chewy, slightly crunchy, and naturally sweet. Coconut is also full of healthy fats that are necessary on a keto diet. It also has a subtle, delicious tropical taste that goes well in so many recipes. Clearly, unsweetened coconut flakes are the perfect base for a bowl of cereal!
Nuts are another fantastic way to add healthy fats to your meals without piling on lots of carbs. Of course, nuts are also just super tasty. Everyone loves the taste of a freshly toasted almond! Our recipe uses both almonds and pecans to give you double the nut taste. If you only have one kind of nut on hand, that is totally fine- any keto-approved chopped nuts will work for this cereal!
We used chia seeds, sunflower seeds, and flaxseeds to add some more nutrition to your cereal breakfast bowl. Flaxseeds and chia seeds are both a great source of fiber, plant-based protein, and omega 3 fatty acids. While they both have slightly nutty tastes, they blend right into the cereal without overpowering it.
So you can see that this cereal is healthy and low in carbs but what makes it taste good? The answer- pancake syrup! You may be wondering how you could possibly use pancake syrup and still eat keto. You definitely can! So Nourished keto pancake syrup will give you that incredible maple taste without any of the carbs. One serving has just 1 net carb while still having all the maple syrup flavor that you know and love. Grab a big bottle of this syrup because you are surely going to use it in more recipes than this one!
We use ½ cup of maple syrup to toss into our cereal mix and the result is amazing. The warm maple taste pairs perfectly with the cinnamon, nutmeg, and other nutty flavors found in the recipe. One bite of this cereal and you are going to be hooked!
One batch of the cereal makes about 6 servings but you can easily triple the recipe and store the baked cereal in an airtight container at room temperature for about a month. Scoop some into a bowl and top with your favorite milk whenever you are ready to enjoy a delicious breakfast! I have also been known to pack a bag of the cereal cluster to bring with me as a delicious keto snack. Keto cereal has never tasted so good! Let us know how much you love this recipe in the comments below- we love to hear from you.
